I was planning to go to barre class on Thursday, but I heard about the fun event going on for this week’s discovery run. The group run was about a 2 mile run to North Ave. Beach where we met up with the Nike Chicago running group and do a 15 minute NTC workout together. Afterwards, we had fun little party upstairs at Castaways.
Before we ran, I did a short 20 minute run to get warmed up and to put some miles in for marathon training. I invited my friend Diana to join in the fun and we met up at Nike Training Club where we got the chance to product test the new Nike Lunar Glide 5 also, which I definitely liked better than the last version. Our group was pretty fast (8:50 to 9:10 min/mile), but we managed to keep up most of the way. Diana had a little trouble keeping up towards the end, so we slowed down the pace when we hit Lincoln Park. Once we got to our destination, we waited at a grassy area near Castaways for the Nike Chicago group to show up. Once they did, we started our NTC workout. Even though it was a short 15 minute workout, trainer Nikki definitely packed it in with lunges, froggers, squat jumps, crunches, etc. I was so happy that the workout ended and was ready to eat and drink! LOL
We were treated to a buffet of burgers, chicken, salad, mac n’ cheese, and pasta salad along with soda, beer, and wine. Yeah, for gaining back calories! It was fun to hang out at the beach and catch up fellow NTC members.
I also got to check out the new Nike Flyknit Frees that is launching next week. I don’t wear the Nike Frees, but I may change my mind after trying it out. They were so comfortable and light! Good shoes for speed workouts.
I met up with my boyfriend there and we got to hang out for a little bit before heading home.
